Putin suggests raising personal income tax by 2pp for wealthy

MOSCOW, Jun 23 (PRIME) -- The personal income tax for the people with annual incomes exceeding 5 million rubles should be raised by 2 percentage points to 15% from 13% starting from January 1, President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday in an address to the nation.

“From January 1 next year, we should change the rate of the personal tax to 15% from 13% for the people that make more than 5 million rubles per year. I would like to point out that the higher rate will be applied not to all incomes, but only on the part that exceeds 5 million rubles,” he said.

An additional budget income from the measure should amount to 60 billion rubles per year, and the government will spend the money on treatment of kids with orphan diseases, he said.
